Teitei Taveuni Resource Center
Teitei Taveuni supports Taveuni farmers through its Farmer Resource Centre, located next to the Agriculture Office in Waiyevo. The premises for the centre are generously provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Established in 2015, the centre was made possible through funding from the Australian Government via its Fiji Community Development Program (FCDP). Additional funding was allocated for a revolving fund, enabling TTT to import soil-friendly, mineral-based fertilizers, which are sold to Taveuni farmers at minimal cost.
The centre offers a variety of resources, including agriculture-related books and magazines for farmers to read. It also provides photocopying services for farmers who need copies of articles or other materials.
Since its modest beginnings in 2015, the centre has grown to meet the evolving needs of farmers. It now stocks and sells a wide range of items, including beekeeping equipment, an assortment of vegetable seeds, garden tools, seed trays, potting bags, and more. Fertilizers and seeds are repackaged into smaller, more affordable packs, making them accessible to small family farmers.
The centre also features meeting facilities, which are available for use by farmers and farmer organizations to host meetings or workshops.
